This sauce is designed to add a luxurious touch to your steak, making each bite an experience of creamy, spicy, and savoury flavours. The fresh red chilies bring a vibrant heat that awakens the palate without overwhelming it, while the heavy cream provides a smooth and luscious texture that coats the steak beautifully. The addition of shallots and garlic infuses the sauce with a depth of flavour, creating a robust base that pairs perfectly with the richness of the meat.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2-3 fresh red chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your heat preference)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup beef or chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare Ingredients:
- Finely chop the shallots and garlic.
- Finely chop the red chilies, removing the seeds if you prefer a milder sauce.
Sauté Aromatics:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped shallots and sauté until they become translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped chilies, and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add Liquids:
- Pour in the heavy cream and beef or chicken broth, stirring to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Season and Thicken:
- Stir in the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste.
- Let the sauce simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency (about 5-7 minutes).
Adjust Seasoning:
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- If the sauce is too thick, you can add a bit more broth to reach the desired consistency.
Serve:
- Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Serve the creamy chili sauce over your favourite steak, garnishing with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
